Marjorie Syphert,
Resident of the Month
Marjorie was born on July 25, 1941, to
Willard and Carlene House of Bolivar. Marjorie
had two siblings; an older sister, Mary Ellen,
and a younger brother, Virgil Kenneth. Growing up, she loved animals and always had pets.
Marjorie recalls one incident where she took
her rabbit to school for show-and-tell.
Most of her school years were spent in Bolivar at Star Ridge Polk County school. However, when she was 15 years old, Marjorie and
her family moved to California, while her father was looked for work. It wasn’t long before
they returned to Bolivar.
While living California, Marjorie’s sister
Marjorie Syphert
met her husband. After they married, Mary
Ellen and her husband stayed in California. Marjorie laughs as she remembers
a comment made by her father about making, “one too many trips to California!”
Upon returning to Bolivar, Marjorie and her high school sweetheart,
Vern, reconnected. He waited for her to return, and after years of dating the
couple were married. During their years together, couple was been blessed
with two children. During their summers off, Vern, Marjorie and their kids
loved to travel to Silver Dollar City or visit the different fairs in Springfield.
Over the years, Marjorie has been blessed with five grandchildren, several
great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
In April 2014 Marjorie joined the CMHCF family. She enjoys visiting
with her friends, playing Bingo, attending Red Hat Tea and going to Bible
study. She likes the idea of putting a garden in at CMHCF because she had
one at home, and is especially looking forward to eating the potatoes she has
helped to grow. Her favorite foods here are the meatloaf and all the wonderful cream pies Sarah makes.
Congratulations to Marjorie for being selected as CMHCF’s Resident of
the Month for June!
