WHEN Bob Sandberg retired from the Navy, a friend who was still stationed in Hawaii sent him a letter asking him to be on the lookout for a motorcycle he was shipping back to San Diego and to keep it safe until he was discharged. The friend also mentioned he had seen an ad for the Christian Motorcyclists Association and thought that Bob might be interested. He and another friend investigated and thought it seemed promising. After moving back to Twain Harte, California, from the base in San Diego, Bob and Wanda were invited to a meeting with around 10 others who were also interested in CMA. This meeting led to the formation of the Sierra Saints Chapter # 46 in Sonora, California. As Bob and Wanda didnβ t have a bike at that particular time, they began riding their sonβ s Honda 650 to meetings and other chapter

gatherings. The chapter remains active, and the Sandbergs continue to attend when possible.
As Bob and Wanda appreciated the biblical basis of the ministry and its evangelical outreach, they joined CMA somewhere around 1979 or 1980. Once involved with the chapter, they served faithfully in a variety of leadership positions, both at the chapter and state levels, including being asked in 1989 to serve as Northern California State Coordinator by Evangelist Wayne Henderson. Bob thought that position should go to Don Woods, but faithful servants Don and Carol Woods were in the process of moving to Hatfield to serve as the first full-time volunteers at the CMA Headquarters. Appointed as CMA Director in 2003, the Sandbergs brought with them the valued asset of having grown with CMA and seen the vision molded and shaped by God to take a fresh form. Bob and Wanda both see

CMA as a big family, and they enjoy the opportunity to work alongside members by sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with the lost.
Although Bob and Wanda have had numerous bikes and traveled many miles over the years, Bob recalls his favorite ride as the 1,600-mile round-trip to their first Arizona State CMA rally, two-up aboard their sonβ s trusty 650 Honda.
Bob and Wanda, both approaching the tender age of 90, most recently drove crosscountry from California to Pennsylvania to attend the CMA 50th Anniversary National Rally. They continue to drive from California to Arkansas several times a year to share their muchvalued input as members of the CMA Board of Directors. Bob and Wanda Sandberg, faithful CMA servants, continue to serve the ministry of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. CMA
