Shawna and I enjoy riding the backroads and discovering new places . Taking the non-interstate route to Daytona Beach Bike Week , we found a favorite route into the heartlands of Florida . Our trips originate in Andalusia , Alabama , but we assume y ’ all don ’ t want to come to our house to start your trip ( but you can if you want to ). So , let us begin this one in Blountstown , Florida . If you are looking for a place to eat , Fiddler ’ s Steamhouse and Oyster Bar is an excellent local place with good food and friendly people . They enjoyed watching us put on our rain gear and ride out to outrun the storms rolling into the city .
Departing Blountstown , we found our way to HWY 20 East , then on to HWY 267 South . It ’ s not long before the ride enters picturesque State and National Forest land , a great representation of Florida land management . These roads will make you feel like you made a mistake and won ’ t see a gas stop ever . But rest assured , there is a Chevron gas station at the intersection of HWY 267 and HWY 319 . You should be able to make it there with a gallon or so of gas from Blountstown ( unless you are on a gas guzzler ).
Once you hit US HWY 98 , take a left 22⎪SEPTEMBER 2022⎪shop . cmausa . org
