SIDI ADVENTURE 2 BOOTS riding gear we use can

THE turn a miserable trip into a fun trip . I can remember riding in the rain and just getting soaked to the bone with a leather jacket and blue jeans . Inevitably , the temp would drop , and then I would be cold and wet , getting as close to the engine as possible trying to get some heat . When I started wearing Gortex riding suits and boots , it completely changed the trip . Now I felt as if I was cheating , somehow beating Mother Nature . Today I want to talk to you about one piece of gear that helps to accomplish that and much more .

Riding boots come in all flavors and sizes ; some are nothing more than boots or shoes that offer no more protection than a pair of cowboy boots , some even less . Then there are different steps up the protection range , all the way
to full-on motocross boots . If you have ever tried MX boots , then you know they are not comfortable for walks in the park , but are as strong of a boot as you can find . Somewhere in the middle area is where most who are concerned about protection find themselves . Even with all this protection , if it rains , you get wet . This is not so bad until it gets cold , then the fun stops . I know of people who have bought waterproof cowboy boots , only to fill them with water . While others wear hiking boots , only to have the tops exposed , and then water wicks down the socks and into the shoe . It seems most waterproof footwear is better at keeping water in than keeping it out ; now , if we could only combine protection , comfort , and waterproofness into one boot .
I have found said boot for myself . Meet the Sidi Adventure 2 boot . It joins the protection , comfort , and waterproofness in an acceptable combination . They are not so protective that you walk like a toy soldier , but they give good ankle and shin protection with a semi-stiff midsole so you can still walk
comfortably . So , where does it fall in the protection range ? It ' s not MX protective and is much more than a touring boot and more than most boots labeled for adventure riding . What gives it an advantage over most ADV boots is the ankle is hinged , allowing the ankle to move back and forth easily but still protecting it from overextension as it locks out . The pivot also adds strength to the side movement to prevent ankle roll . This feature can play a part in stopping your bike from falling over when putting your foot down . The ease of movement and protection makes a good boot for touring , gravel road exploring , and light ADV riding . I have taken it on some technical rocky riding , but if I plan on doing that for the day , I step up in boot protection .
From a comfort standpoint , the boots were pretty good out of the box and have improved as they have broken in . I ' ve had them for over a year now . Comfort is a funny thing , though . Not only does foot shape affect comfort , but the mind plays a big part in it as well . Even custom-fitted boots have to be adjusted for some people , depending on how tight or loose they want a boot to feel . So being able to tell you the boot will be comfortable on your foot is something I cannot speak on . I have been on short two-mile hikes through the woods and been comfortable . On the bike , they are easy to shift with , whether I ' m on my ADV bike or cruiser . I ' ve been
