DESPITE having to reschedule our event due to severe weather conditions and extreme heat , Rugged Cross Riders CMA Chapter # 981 ' s 1st Annual Run for the Son Ride and Rally was a success . Throughout the day , approximately 200 motorcycles and people attended the rally .

Members of CMA were able to pray with and for many who attended . Many bike blessings took place throughout the day . The rally kicked off with 31 motorcycles taking a 75-mile ride through scenic Walker County . Following the ride , participants took part in a bike show , bike games , and a cornhole tournament . The Greystone Drive Band , the Kittles , and Jason Stoker provided music . Food vendors offered attendees BBQ , soft pretzels , Sno-cones , kettle corn , nachos , and other tasty treats . Vendors were on site , giving those at the rally opportunities to purchase anything from leather goods and jewelry to custom-made tumblers . Two quilts , custom-made by a member of Rugged Cross Riders , were auctioned off through the silent auction . Information for motorcycle-related services , from custom builds to custom paint , was made available by a couple of the local businesses .
One of the vendors provided several inflatables for the children and electric bull riding for adults . Two local , very biker-friendly churches were on site sharing information about their services and programs . The City of LaFayette , Georgia , was instrumental in the logistics of the rally . They allowed the roads around the rally site to be blocked off for motorcycle traffic only . Also , they provided the rally site , the professional stage for music , as well as electric power for vendors and the stage . Lafayette Fire and Police Departments brought vehicles for all to look at and answered questions from the crowd . Several members of local motorcycle clubs , groups , and ministries came out to support our efforts to raise money for CMA and our ministry partners . Rugged Cross Riders could not have put this event on without the support of our state leadership , many members from CMA chapters throughout the state of Georgia , and extra resources made available by New Life Riders of Dalton , Georgia , Choo Choo Wheels of Worship of Chattanooga , Tennessee , and Soul Seekers Rome , Georgia . At the end of the day , over $ 900 was raised to spread the Good News of Jesus throughout a lost and dying world .
