YOUTH MOVEMENT

IF you have been around CMA long , you ' ve probably heard someone talk about the " Two Minute Testimony ." You simply teach yourself to share your testimony in two minutes or less . The point isn ' t to make it exactly two minutes but to learn how to share your story quickly . So often , when we are out on the field in ministry , we get brief moments with people . This allows us to take advantage of every window of opportunity , big or small . We still have to be intentional , though ; I think we tend to overthink it . Your testimony doesn ' t always have to be your conversion story – it can be other areas where Jesus came through for you or impacted your life . We must be in tune with the Holy Spirit to know what to say at the right time . How you overcame anxiety during a stressful exam with prayer could be just the encouragement they need to hear !
If you read the Acts of the Apostles , you will find them constantly sharing their testimony . Their stories weren ' t commands or writings ; they shared what they saw and heard . But I think there is something very different about how they shared the Gospel versus how we share it now .
Why do we share our faith ? Is it simply because we are commanded to ? Is it the right thing to do ?
If we read Acts 4 , we find the priests and religious leaders had Peter and John arrested for performing a miracle in Jesus ' name and brought them before a council to be questioned . Peter and John were threatened and told to stop talking about Jesus or else .
Peter said he can ' t help but speak of the things he has seen and heard . ( Verse 20 ) Acts 4:18-20 ( NKJV ): “ So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus . But Peter and John answered and said to them , ‘ Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God , you judge . For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard .’” The disciples shared about Jesus even when their lives were threatened . What they saw , heard , and experienced was too amazing ! They couldn ' t help it ! So my question for you ( and myself ) is : Do we truly know and love Jesus enough to share , even if it costs us everything ? Can we say that we are grateful for everything Jesus has done for us , to the point that it ' s impulsive or uncontrolled ? Do we know Jesus that deeply ? Are we grateful for His sacrifice on the cross , wanting everyone in the world to experience His mercy and grace ? Do we truly , or are we sharing out of a sense of responsibility ?
If you don ' t know Jesus on that level , what are you waiting for ? He ' s waiting to change your life if you want to go deeper . He met each disciple where they were , regardless of their past . He loves you !
He meets with me in my darkest moments , listening to my fear and unbelief . He sees me and knows my every thought . And He loves me . I can ' t help but share about this kind of love ! Can you ? CMA
Ben and Rachel Larson serve CMA as National Evangelist -Youth Movement . Did you know we have CMA Kids and Youth Movement activities and services at all of our National rallies ? Would you consider what it may look like for you , your grandkids , or kids to come to the Changing of the Colors Rally this year ? This event was a highlight for me growing up in CMA and significantly impacted my life . Will you allow it to be the same for you ? See you October 19-23 !
