CHAPTER HEALTH

YEAST the topic of chapter health comes

WHEN up , my mind goes to the subject of Chapter Quarterly Reports . These reports provide an excellent barometer of how a chapter is doing and where they are placing their emphasis . I look at the ministry being done at secular and outreach events and how these numbers compare to CMA fellowship gatherings and meetings .

It gets interesting when you look at the report ’ s chapter comments section . These comments can show what God is doing , what struggles the chapter is facing , and any specific areas of prayer the chpater wants their leader to be praying about .
One struggle I see reported regularly is ‘ We need more members .’ My initial thought is , ‘ No , you don ’ t need more members ; you need more ministry .’ When a chapter gets excited about ministry , the members generally come along .
Jesus told His disciples that the harvest was plentiful , but the workers were few . He also knew what those few workers could accomplish . Luke tells us , “ He also asked , ‘ What else is the Kingdom of God like ? It is like the yeast a woman used in making bread . Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour , it permeated every part of the dough ’” ( Luke 13:20-21 , NLT ).
Jesus explained the Kingdom of
God to His disciples using a baking analogy . This was certainly different from their day ’ s physical kingdoms , which had vast empires and powerful rulers . However , Jesus was referring to a spiritual kingdom . This Kingdom would not be conquered or overtaken but would be changed from within .
Just as a bit of yeast mixed and reacted with the sixty or seventy pounds of flour to create the dough , these few Christians would bring change to their culture from the inside . What started with twelve men has grown to onethird of the world ’ s population .
Jesus sent His disciples out two by two . If you have another CMA brother or sister with you and are serving the Lord , you have everything you need to make an impact . By going into the motorcycling culture and coming in contact with others , we have the opportunity to build relationships and share the hope that we have found .
Jesus told His disciples that the yeast would permeate every part of the dough . It sounds to me like we are to go to places that haven ’ t been reached yet . But , that is just what CMA has done since 1975 and continues to do today . That is why we focus on evangelism .
Yeast is not effective in the container . It doesn ’ t start to work until it is added to something else . Even then , it does no good sitting there in a lump . It has to be mixed and dispersed to come in contact with all that has not yet been touched .
CMA members do just that when the Holy Spirit leads them to take the Gospel message to motorcyclists . Just like Jesus did , we go and meet people where they are . So get out , mix with motorcyclists in your area , and see how God uses you and your chapter to grow the Kingdom .
