I want to talk about CMA chapter officers ’ nomination and election process . First , we must follow the process as laid out in the CMA Handbook . Nominations are conducted during the chapter ’ s October meeting by secret ballot . If you have been praying about your chapter ’ s elections in advance and know who you want nominate for a position in the chapter , consider contacting them in September and asking them to pray about the position . During the October chapter meeting , the Chapter Secretary will read the list of names eligible to nominate or hold a position . The CMA Handbook states the minimum age to hold a position is eighteen and the person must be an active chapter member , meaning they have attended three of the last six meetings . For nominations , this means they attended three meetings between April and September . Eligible members will nominate members for all of the chapter positions : Chapter President , Chapter Vice-President , Chapter Secretary , Chapter Treasurer , Chapter Road Captain , and Chapter Chaplain .
Two chapter members should hand out the secret ballots , pick them up , and count them and the information recorded by the Chapter Secretary . Each person nominated will be asked if they will accept the nomination . Remember that if a member is a full-time pastor , they can only hold the position of Chapter Chaplain . The positions of Chapter Secretary and Chapter

Treasurer can be combined if needed . The names and positions of everyone who accepted a nomination will be read before the meeting ends to allow the chapter members to pray about the nominees before the next meeting .
During the November chapter meeting , eligible members ( having taken art in at least three chapter meetings between May-October ) will vote on each position one at a time by secret ballot , starting with the Chapter President . Once the vote has been counted and a member has been elected , that member is no longer eligible for any other position they were nominated for . It is important to remember that if only one member is nominated for a position , that member must still be voted on by secret ballot with yes or no . Everyone has the right to vote for or against , and the person needs to know they were officially elected . I have seen this turn out where someone nominated themselves , and the chapter voted no against them , so they did not win the office . There had to be a new nomination and election for that position .
Please remember that the nomination and election process is not a popularity contest . It is crucial that you prayerfully consider each eligible member and earnestly seek the Lord ’ s guidance on whom you should nominate for each position . Also , be prepared to consider if you should accept any nominations . All nominees need to read the CMA Handbook defining each position
