RFS TIPS

RFS TIPS

By GEOFF Norton

As you plan your calendar for the coming year , think about combining a Bike Blessing with a Run for the Son ( RFS ) event . The sky ’ s the limit . If you have an event that has always produced a positive campaign towards RFS and you no longer have a place in the calendar for it , combine it ! Some of the more successful bike blessings have also generated an enormous effort towards Run for the Son . Let ’ s admit it , serving a lunch plate of any sort will increase your participation if a meal was a part of the plan .

Be sure to promote the event , especially if you plan to add to the events ' annual agenda . By doing something like this , you may be creating a new yearly success . When creating your flyers , posters , emails , and social media post , be sure to make a unique , eye-catching layout promoting the fact that you have added to an existing event .
Your chapter will soon be meeting in January and hopefully setting some RFS goals or continuing your goal efforts that were set back in June . If you have found yourself struggling with creative new options , this may be the ticket . Remember , the time of year you choose can also directly drive your choice of options . This may be a summer hotdog cookout , or you may add jump houses for children and youth , etc . Organize the event so you can still conduct your annual Bike Blessing . And while we are on that subject , adding a second bike blessing to your community may be needed , and that alone is another event to combine an opportunity towards RFS .
Run for the Son planning and chapter participation in the community ’ s bike events can be overwhelming at times . However , this may serve as an occasion to plan a more productive annual calendar . As you prepare for the first meeting of the year , put some thought in connection with this idea . CMA
