LETTER TO THE EDITOR

NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
Ronnie Hinson’ s songβ€œ The Lighthouse” means a lot to me. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of my dad and grandmother singing it together at church.
I thank God for the lighthouse I owe my life to Him For King Jesus is the lighthouse And from the rocks of sin He has shown a light around me That I might clearly see If it wasn’ t for the lighthouse Tell me where would this ship be?
I was raised in a Christian home, with both my grandfather and father serving as pastors. My mother led worship and taught Sunday school, while my grandmother, aunt, and uncle contributed musically at church. However, being raised in a Christian environment or attending church does not automatically make one a Christian. I accepted Jesus into my life at age six, and as a teenager, I chose to rededicate myselfβ€” not because I had turned away from
God, but as part of my personal growth. Even as an adult, I have sought God’ s guidance to feel closer to Him.
Some of my loved ones have chosen different paths. We have discussed our experiences, and at times, they feel life has not been fair to them. This song resonates with me because I recognize that it is only by God’ s grace that I am who I am and where I am today. Although I was raised in a Christian home, I could have made other choices, as my loved ones did. Like everyone, I have faced temptations and opportunities to make poor decisions. I am not perfect and have made mistakes, but each day I ask God for guidance, forgiveness, and grace. I truly believe that without the lighthouse, I would not be where I am today.
Wherever you are today and whatever you have experienced, I encourage you to take time to thank God and share your story with someone who may need encouragement.
