curiosity , you might want to take a closer look in town to find Berdine ' s Five and Dime or Dodd ' s Log Cabin Grill . Otherwise , you can keep rolling on . It ' s a way to go before landing for the night .
Cruising on through Clarksburg , West Virginia , I couldn ' t help but sing it ; " Take the last train to Clarksburg , and I ' ll meet you at the station …" Yeah , that will stick in your head for a while . ( Ed . Our apologies to the Monkees , but it is Clarksville ). Moving on , we passed through some beautiful winding curves and hills until we stopped for gas in Weston , West Virginia , where you will find the Museum of American Glass and the Mountaineer Military Museum . Lots of history here . Almost to our destination point , but first , Elkins , West Virginia , where you may find the path into the mountains , is by train . The West Virginia Railroad Museum is not far from here and is full of railroad history . I ' m telling you , our nation ' s roots grow deep in these hills !
Along the route to our sleep stop is Seneca Rocks in the Monongahela National Forest . What a beautiful site to see ! Photography buffs will fall in love with this place . Time is wasting … let ' s go ! We finally reached our destination in Cabins , West Virginia . There are so many places to stay ; if you are a larger group like us , you can rent a whole house with several bathrooms . Very cool for a bunch of ladies .
Now , Cabins is very close to Petersburg , West Virginia , so after a good night ' s rest , we ate breakfast in a small place called Marrow ' s CafΓ© . What a fantastic place . The staff was friendly and accommodating to our group , and the food was terrific . We then took our journey up into Spruce Knob and Blackwater Falls State Park . AMAZING RIDE THROUGH THE CURVES ! Beautiful scenery , and what fun the roads were . We had lunch at the Wicked Wilderness Pub & Parlor and then returned to the house for a lovely evening of unwinding .
We left for home on Sunday morning , traveling through the beautiful countryside of
Maryland via Old National Highway 40 . Friendsville has trails and whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny River and boasts of being Garrett County ' s oldest settlement . Again , it is rich in history .
As we kept rolling along , we found ourselves passing through Uniontown , Pennsylvania , where you might stumble upon the beautiful scenery of Cucumber Falls or see rock wall fences surrounding small farms and decorating the landscape with their natural beauty . Who knows what you may find along the way !
Back into Ohio we went as we traveled through the town of St . Clairsville and then on to Pataskala with a little mid-day break . As we wrapped up the trip heading back to Columbus , we said goodbye , gave our hugs , and relished the wonderful trip we had as we rewound our way to our respective homes . It was and is a beautiful trip , whether you are a group of ladies , guys , or just the two of you who want to make some great memories and enjoy the sights and sounds of God ' s creation . See you in the wind ! CMA
