HELLO

to all our CMA family and friends from the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota . If you are in our area , we would like to invite you on one of our new favorite rides through the hills . It is only about 80 miles in length , around a two-hour ride , but one with breathtaking scenery and several places to pull off , rehydrate , and relax beside the peaceful creeks and lakes .
From Custer , head north on Highway 385 / 16 to Three Forks Junction 385 North . Continue to Sheridan Lake , where there are numerous pull-offs to enjoy the beauty of the lake right along the high-
way . Back on the roadway , just past the lake , take a right onto Sheridan Lake Road . This road gives you a variety of scenery and curves to lean into .
Keep a lookout for wildlife along this route , as there is an abundance of deer and wild turkeys . At the end of Sheridan Lake Road , approaching the west side of Rapid City , before Catron Blvd ., we recommend pulling into Stony Creek Plaza , 5622 Sheridan Lake Road , for lunch at Wings and Rings . This restaurant specializes in Buffalo wings and onion rings but also offers great-tasting burgers , glutenfree options , and vegan options .
Leaving the Plaza , exit to the right to Catron Blvd , and take a right at the stop light . Continue 1.3 miles to US16W , where you will take a right onto US16W . In seven miles , take a left onto Neck Yoke Road and then a left onto Spring Creek Road to the stop sign , SD79 South . Continue south on Hwy 79 , approximately eight miles to the Custer State Park exit , Hwy 36 / l 6A , which will take you on a beautiful ride through the park and back into Custer .
Back in Custer , we recommend that you stop at our favorite ice cream place , Horatio ' s . Horatio ' s is in an 1881 historic bank building at 548 Mount Rushmore Road . You can relax on their patio and enjoy homemade ice cream in one of their specialty waffle cones .
Please be advised that there is a lot of road construction in the hills this year , so check SDDOT for updates . We pray you enjoy your visit to the Black Hills . CMA
