LW : What ’ s happened since then ? KG : After rehab , my body and mind slowly recovered . Deborah and I began going to church , and I started reading the Bible and memorizing scripture . I thought , “ Why did you save me , God ?” I kept reading and growing spiritually . Soon I thought , “ You must have saved me for a reason ,” so I set out to find out why . I prayed the sinner ’ s prayer and was baptized that summer in a creek at the church picnic . In September , Deborah and I got married .
LW : What other changes did God do ? KG : The hard , maniac look in my eyes that was always there when I was high was replaced with the soft brightness of the presence of the Lord inside me . I didn ’ t ride my motorcycle for four years – it was wrecked . I believe God took me out of the biker world for a season , to grow and to get to know Him . I discovered what true love is , something I had never known in my lifetime . The true love of God and true love from a woman who loves God .
LW : How did you get involved in CMA ? KG : When the time was right , God supplied another Harley . Through a neighbor , we found out about CMA , and we stated riding and attending meetings . We also began attending biker events . When former friends saw me , they said I looked good , remembering how I used to look . People wanted to know what happened , so I told them about my experience with God . At a campout where CMA did ministry all weekend , I saw the clubs ’ respect for CMA , and CMA ’ s love for bikers . I never remembered seeing motorcycle ministries in the past . We were invited to Seasons of Refreshing in 2018 . We wanted to be a part of the work CMA does . We took the training , got our patches , and joined the Auburn chapter . CMA has given my life purpose . It was the answer to the question I had when I first got sober . This is why He saved me , to go back out into the biker world and tell this amazing story , to show God ’ s love through words and service .
LW : Any highlights stand out since joining CMA ? KG : A club president handed us an invitation to his wedding and said , “ I need you to marry us .” I went to my pastor and CMA chapter president for guidance . I got ordained . Deborah and I spent about twelve hours researching scriptures and vows . Since then , I ’ ve been asked to marry two other couples . Also , shortly after doing my father ’ s funeral , I was asked to “ say a few words ” at a biker celebration of life . It ’ s exciting to see how God is preparing me to show love and share the Gospel to bikers .
LW : How is God preparing you for ministry today ? KG : Tattoos . All my new tattoos are Christian images ( stairway to heaven , narrow gates , grace , “ Given ”) and Matthew 7:13-14 , Matthew 6:33 . I also have many reflecting my past life , including 49 skulls . When I comment on the skulls , I use it as an opportunity to talk about Jesus , how he loved us enough to die for us on Golgotha . Actually , my old tattoos used to speak for me because I never liked to talk much , especially to a crowd . I just didn ’ t have much to say , but now , God has given me a voice … Good News , to show God ’ s love .
Also , I was elected to Vice President of our CMA chapter in 2021 . This opened new doors for me to reach people due to the culture within the biker world and the mutual level of respect shown between leadership . It ’ s exciting to see how God is preparing me to do even more to grow the Kingdom . The old saying really is true : “ God doesn ’ t call the
qualified , He qualifies the called .”
