AS this year marks the 50th anniversary of CMA I have been thinking about my first encounter with the ministry and how it has impacted my life and my family ’ s life . I joined CMA in 1982 because a biker friend of mine brought me an application for CMA that he found at a service station on his way home from a trip . As he handed me the application he said , “ I saw this . You are a Christian . I thought you might want to join or check them out . But I ’ m not interested .” After several months , I felt an urge to check out CMA .
Finding the ministry being one that sparked my interest , I decided to join , sending my first donation with my application . Though there ’ s not time to go into detail , that one decision changed the dynamics of my entire family . My wife began riding motorcycles so we could travel with our two sons . Family vacations centered around attending CMA events and ministering on the highways and byways . My youngest son accepted

Christ at a CMA rally . My oldest son walked away from Christ and then had a miraculous salvation experience and CMA made a place to invest and train him . From there , he received a call into ministry that has shaped the future of his family . Then , years later , God asked me to be willing to step into the CEO / Chairman of the Board position for this ministry .
Looking back , all of this started because one person heard about CMA and said I should look into it . I am thankful for the goodness of God that has shaped and changed my family and has challenged us to offer the hope of salvation to others we encounter everywhere we are . This is such a key to CMA – the fact that God uses ordinary men and women to share the knowledge of His extraordinary love .
