WHEN my husband and I married ( January 5 , 1973 ), I was a Christian , and he was not . Life was not always easy , but I loved him dearly , and he loved me . He had a motorcycle when we were dating and taught me how to ride , and I have loved them ever since .
We have ridden a lot over the years , together most of the time . I rode on my own for a few years . I believe it was 2005 , my husband (“ Mushy ” as they called him ) often rode his trike uptown , and he never met a stranger . A young man ( a friend now ) in the CMA Bikers 4 Christ chapter in Pell City , Alabama , invited us to their bike night at Sonic , and we went . At the bike night , they asked him to ride with them , and he did . He was always amazed at how they never judged him , which caused him to love them even more .
Over the next two years , we attended a few chapter meetings and continued to ride with them . Finally , I joined CMA in 2006 . My husband started asking questions about God and Jesus and salvation . Then one day in our backyard , he asked Jesus into his heart .
We went to the CMA State Rally in 2007 at Shocco Springs in Talladega , Alabama . He saw they had a lake and wanted to be baptized . They allowed us to have a baptism . Not only did the members of CMA that were there come , but others not there heard about it and came to see my Mushy get baptized . Others were baptized too . Before he went into the water , the weather started to get bad , and we heard thunder and saw lightning . He was asked if he wanted to continue , and he said , " Nothing is going to stop me from getting baptized ," so he did .
From that day forward , his life , and my life , was forever changed .
He continued to be a faithful husband , Christian , and CMA member until the day he passed on December 4 , 2020 . I truly miss him , and I know others do too . He made a big impression on many people , including our children and me .
