THIS is an article that you want to save for use in July . It is a great adventure loop for the Colorado Super State Rally 2021 and will be a day loop of on and off pavement starting from the fairgrounds in Durango . I hope a group of us can run this the day before the rally kicks off . It ' s best to travel with friends on a ride like this just in case something happens . This will be a great experience for those on dual sport or adventure bikes . I have ridden this route before on a Victory Vision , but would not recommend anyone on a street bike to ride Ophir Pass , nor the extra loop through Corkscrew . We are looking at the main loop of 170 miles and the additional loop , adding 30 miles of jeep trails . So it ' s possible to do a 200 mile loop that you should set aside a full day to do .
Heading north out of the fairgrounds on US550 , you are heading to Lime Creek RD which is just 2.5 miles past Purgatory Resort . Turn right onto FS591 , which is a dirt road that will loop back to US550 , the Million Dollar Highway . Next stop is the cool town of Silverton . It ' s an old mining town full of shops and history . This is a great place for gas and a bite to eat .
