RFS TIP

By RICK & MARY Burkey
A TWIST ON THE CLASSIC
FUNDRAISER DINNER was a typical brisk November

IT evening, and we were headed to Urbana, Ohio, to support the RFS fundraising efforts of the local chapter through a dinner show. Upon arrival, we were greeted by several CMA members from across Ohio and shown to our seats. As we were getting to know our tablemates, dinner was served, and the evening was progressing as you would expect, when it happened.

There was a clap of thunder, the lights went out, and as the lightning flashed, we heard a scream,β€œ He’ s been murdered.” That’ s when we realized this was no ordinary dinner show; it was a good old-fashionedβ€œ Who Dun It Mystery Dinner,” and it was going to be a date night we wouldn’ t soon forget.
The lights came back on, and as we ate our delicious dinner, some very interesting characters stopped by our table to chat about
what had happened. We met folks like Simon, a gentleman dealing with anger issues; Mr. Knowsem, the town gossip; Addison, who struggles with addiction; Bertha, Better Than You; and John J. Cheatum, just to name a few. These intriguing people dropped hints about what had happened and clues for us to figure out just who had been killed and who was responsible. As the plates were being cleared, Detective Caruso arrived on the scene with his best officer, and the interrogations began. As the investigation progressed, we learned that a man named Jesus had been killed, and they had all had a hand in it, for their sins were the reason why He had died.
This was a fantastic evening of fun, fellowship, and food, all to raise money for Run
for the Son. Every detail from the table decorations to the script was prayerfully considered and added to the intrigue and excitement. The Yeshua’ s Cross Riders # 1067 hosted the event, but members from all around the state participated to make the evening a success. If you are looking for a fresh new idea for a twist on the classic RFS fundraiser dinner, I would recommend giving this a try. CMA
