50TH ANNIVERSARY |

IN 1984, I got my first new bike. I had a friend, Jim Price, who was a preacher, and we rode together. Jim told me about a dream he had. He said it was about a preacher riding a bike and he carried a Bible, but the dream wasnβ t about him. Skip forward to 1986. My wife, Ruth, and I went to Song Fest at Rev. Jim Priceβ s church. We saw a motorcycle with a CMA sticker on it. We talked to the people who it belonged to, and they invited us to a rally at Ludlow Falls. Ruth and I talked it over and decided we ought to go, so we found out where Ludlow Falls was, and we went.
Upon arriving, we met other bikers. One of them was praising the Lord and acting kind of funny. I asked him about his

actions, and he replied,β I just quit smoking.β Then he said,β Look at the sign.β I looked at the sign on the gate, and it said,β No Smoking.β He said,β The Lord will provide a way to help you do right.β My wife and I were walking through the campground, and we noticed that everything was out in the open, with nothing locked up.
We met some bikers who belonged to CMA. They invited us to stay the night and even offered us sleeping bags. We thanked them for the offer, but we declined. We had to go home because we had our disabled daughter at home.
We finally joined CMA in January of 1987. Our first real meeting was at a hog roast in Plain City, Ohio. The Kingβ s Reflection chapter hosted it. In
|
1987, I became Road Captain for the Kingβ s Reflections. Later in 1992, I became State Coordinator for Ohio and held that position until 2004.
We are currently members of Spirit of the Son # 777 in Columbus, Ohio. From 2004 to 2023, I wrote a spiritual article for a magazine called Ride On. I wrote a column titledβ More Like Him.β I also held church services and an Easy Rider Rodeo at Chillicothe, Ohio, for about 17 years. I went on three mission trips: one to Nicaragua, one to Guatemala, and one to the Philippines. I also won a mission trip that I had to give away due to illness. We have loved our time in CMA and are thankful for all the opportunities the ministry has brought us. CMA
