THIS

year is the 5th annual CMA Run for the Son( RFS) Free Way Riders Banquetβ€” a beloved event that has grown in spirit, attendance, and influence since it began. Inspired by a rally in Durango six years ago, our chapter set an ambitious goal: to raise $ 15,000 and donate a motorcycle for the cause. Relying on faith and determination, we have developed this effort into a lasting tradition that honors God and unites our community.
Each year, we host the banquet to promote the CMA Vision of changing the world one heart at a time, through Run for the Son.
Our menu has changed from spaghetti to pulled pork sandwiches to lasagna. We have been blessed with food costs being covered through donations. Local support enables silent and live auctions, and last year, we added Bingo. We share our mission during the event and, prior to the event, visit churches to boost attendance. Increased participation has led us to change venues each year, raising $ 3,000 – $ 9,000 per banquet, with total annual contributions to RFS from all events exceeding $ 15,000.
In our second year, we met a church staffer who later became a CMA member and is now our chapter chaplain, showing the event ' s impact on forming lasting bonds. Notably, a guest last year joined CMA after attending the banquet. Later that spring, he blessed another man ' s bike; that rider accepted Jesus and became a CMA member. These moments reflect the banquet ' s deeper purpose: spreading Christ ' s message and building a strong faith community.
Each year, the banquet features ticket sales for the dinner, lively bingo games, and spirited auctionsβ€” all designed to raise funds for RFS. These activities not only generate financial support but also foster camaraderie and excitement among attendees. The money raised helps further our
mission to share the Gospel and the work of CMA, both locally and across the globe.
We expanded our outreach by participating in the annual Motorcycle Hill Climb X12 event. Our team sets up a campsite and provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner, raising funds for RFS. Throughout the weekend, we distribute complimentary water to all riders, bless motorcycles, and engage with attendees. Although the work is demanding and dirty, the results are highly rewarding.
We have partnered with the local Savers organization to facilitate the collection of soft goods, including clothing, shoes, and bedding. Savers compensates us based on the weight of donated items. Through this ongoing initiative, we consistently generate approximately $ 800 in annual donations from year-round clothing collections.
At our 5th Annual CMA Run for the Son Banquet, we will celebrate our chapter ' s achievements and focus on honoring God, sharing Jesus, and supporting RFS. Each banquet strengthens our faith, fellowship, and service as we spread hope and love in our community and beyond. CMA
