for the Son ( RFS ) is around the corner , and chapters across the nation ( and some of our CMA International family ) are gearing up for this opportunity to invest in worldwide evangelism . CMA firmly believes in the statement Paul made in Philippians 2:3-4 ( NKJV ), “ Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit , but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself . Let each of you look out not only for his own interests , but also for the interests of others .” From the beginning , CMA chose to function counter-culturally , and RFS is one example of that decision . Instead of seeking ministry partners to invest in us , we sought out ministries with world-reaching potential to invest in that would help us expand our ability to share the Gospel . I want to share with you a bit of history about RFS and why I personally participate in it ..

One of our members shared a need with our Board of Directors about pastors in Guatemala needing transportation to share the Gospel and care for their congregations . After consideration , the Board agreed this was an opportunity to expand our outreach – what a great vision , bikers who love sharing the Gospel providing bikes to pastors who also love sharing the Gospel . So , RFS was born in 1988 with the plan for it to be a one-time project . I was a member of CMA at

that time , serving as Chapter President , and I liked this opportunity to evangelize beyond the borders of the USA and help minister to motorcyclists at the same time , as a portion of the funds was meant to fund evangelism in the USA .

Much to everyone ’ s surprise , that first RFS , we raised more than what we needed for the motorcycles to be donated through Missionary Ventures International ( MVI ), so the Board came together and decided to add a second ministry partner , Open Doors USA ( which is now Global Christian Relief ). We contacted their team and asked them to come to our June National Rally to receive their check . They were somewhat reluctant because they weren ’ t sure what to think about motorcyclists and this organization called CMA . The representatives came with their families , initially leaving their wives and kids at the hotel while they attended the first service of the event . Once they met us , they went back to get their families to join them at the event .

After the first year ’ s success , the Board of Directors believed that this was a God-breathed opportunity to evangelize around the world while providing needed funds to evangelize motorcyclists at home . A few years later , they saw a hole in our partnership . We had transportation covered , and we had Bibles covered , but not every people group could read .

After much prayer , Jesus Film Project ® was added to our partnership .

RFS is not a good thing ; it is a God thing . It is extremely unique in that 60 % of the funds are given away to our ministry partners to be used specifically for enabling evangelism . It enables CMA to live the words of Paul in being willing to look beyond our own needs and see the needs of believers worldwide . Through our partnership , we provide transportation , training , Bibles , and electronic media to tell the story of Jesus in native tongues .

I participate in RFS because I believe that it is one of the most effective ways of evangelizing the world . God has called all of us Christians to share the Good News of the Gospel , and RFS is literally changing the world , one heart at a time . I also participate in RFS because it has integrity in ensuring the funds are used where they are intended to be used . Each ministry partner submits a budget to us and then sends us updates , providing accountability for spending the funds according to their budget .

I am excited about our upcoming RFS celebration that will happen at the National East Rally in Altoona , Pennsylvania , this June , and I look forward to seeing you there . CMA
