RECOMMENDED RIDES beauty of timber and curves to go slow through and feast your eyes on .
Hwy 27N has some old homes with large front porches , which reminds me of the old times of front porch sittin β, storytelling , old men whittling , and fellowshipping .
Arriving at Dardanelle , Hwy 27 disappears as you run Hwy 7N .
Crossing the Arkansas River at Dardanelle on the steel truss bridge , you β ll catch a glimpse of an old barge port , a sight of history .
Going through Russellville is not a preferred part of the route for me ; however , it offers many eating opportunities . If you are patient with the Hwy 27N and 7N mix , it will give a variety of mountains to flat lands , a small town , and a big city to experience . It β s something for all riding tastes .
Hwy 27 reappears as you β re leaving Dover , Arkansas .
Enjoyment reenters the ride on Hwy 27N after Dover with winding curves and hills through Hector . After Hector , the road isn β t as smooth as it has been , there is a little bit of a construction challenge , but the views are still wonderful .
Coming across the mountain range from Hector to Hwy 16 is beautiful and well worth the trip ; watch for deer in this wilderness area . Another note of caution is sections of cuts across the highway filled with gravel .
Hwy 27N will take a left as picking up Hwy 16 to Clinton continues straight . It β s a narrow twolane highway ; the asphalt is old but still intact . Hwy 16 has several acres of serene rolling hills cleared for farmland .
As you get into Clinton on Hwy 16 , you will take a left on Hwy 65N for a short stretch , where you β ll then turn right on Hwy 16
and Hwy 9 , which roll together for a piece .
Hwy 16 from Clinton to Shirley has lots of character with slopping curves . If you β re into old bridges , it β s worth getting off the route for a few hundred yards at Shirley , Arkansas , where you β ll find an old railroad truss bridge that has been slabbed .
Hwy 9 out of Shirley to Mountain View is very scenic , with old churches and other old buildings that give you a country feel . Hwy 9 comes across a mountain range and drops down into Mountain View right into the town square like a backdoor passageway . Mountain View is full of folklore and hill livin β. Be sure to check out the Wing Shack , an area biker β s choice for a tasty meal after a long day of riding . CMA
