HOW ARE YOU COMMUNICATING ?

Over

the years , Jane and I have used several
communication devices . In 2008 , when we were headed down to Iron Mountain for the first time , we went out and bought a cheap set of headsets . I don ’ t even remember what the brand was , but I do know that halfway down to the mountain , I took them out of our helmets . They just didn ’ t work , so we just talked really loud to hear each other .
The following year we bought our 2009 Harley Ultra Classic . It came with two plug-in headsets . It was great that we could hear each other . The only problem was the cords were short and extremely hard to plug in if your helmet was on . Also , the plug was up on the side of the helmet and was round , so you struggled to get it lined up . The only way for Jane to use hers was to plug it in first , hand me her helmet while
she mounted the bike , and then hope it didn ’ t unplug when she was putting the helmet on . If she managed to put it on , it was ok until she accidentally caught the cord and pulled it out while riding . If that happened , the only way to get it plugged in was to stop , take the helmet off the plug-in , and put it back on . So , we started looking for wireless headsets .
In 2011 , we were at a Harley dealership , and we found a set of Scala Rider Headsets made by Cardo . They were great but really only worked when we were on the same bike . The other drawback was the battery did not last very long . Also , it said it was good for up to 2,300 feet if you were on different bikes . Well , you really had to be about 100 feet apart , or they wouldn ’ t work .
In 2019 , we got our new Harley and went back to the plug-ins because we wanted to talk on our phone with the Bluetooth on the bike . This was ok , but we discovered
that you really got a lot of road noise through the headset if you were talking on the phone at highway speeds . So , over the past two years , we have been looking for a wireless headset that would meet our needs . We have been talking to people and looking online . We felt staying with a Cardo headset was the best option . We got with our local dealer , and he helped us with our choices . We found the Cardo Packtalk Bold Headset with sound by JBL . One of the first things we discovered was that not every headset was waterproof and that with our riding , it was vital rain would not affect the system . We searched several websites for information .
We found lots of information on the Cardo website . Use the link below for what we searched for and the information we found . https :// www . cardosystems . com / sh op / packtalk-bold-duo /
After reading all of the information and features , we knew we would be happy with the Packtalk intercom . So , when looking for your next intercom system , check out the Packtalk Bold .
Thanks , and safe riding ! CMA
