tIm hUSbANdS mbe ceO, tItANIc beLFASt
tim became ceO of the world’s largest titanic visitor experience in may 2011. the now internationally known
award winning visitor attraction has seen visitor numbers approaching 4 million go through its doors since it
opened on 31st march 2012 to coincide with the centenary of the sinking of the great vessel, which was built
and launched in belfast. With over 75% of visitors now coming from outside of Northern Ireland, it has created
a new international tourist to the benefit of not only the city but the province as a whole. In december 2016
titanic belfast was crowned the World’s Leading tourist Attraction at the World travel Awards.
tim was also honoured by h.m. the Queen in her New Year’s honours list in January 2014, awarding him an
mbe, for Services to economic development and tourism
.
Prior to this, between 1994 and may 2011 tim was managing director of the belfast Waterfront hall, the city’s
premier arts, entertainment, concert hall and conference centre, which generates over 300,000 visitors each
year, arriving in belfast two years before the facility opened to launch the project. For the last five years of
his time with the city council he was also responsible for the operation of the Ulster hall, another major player
in the city’s arts and entertainments provision.
In 2009 tim assumed the position of head of city events and Venues, which also saw him take the lead in
the delivery of all major events in the city, including the tall Ships Festival in 2009 and the securing of the
mtV music Awards for belfast for November 2011.
Prior to coming to belfast, tim was managing director of the riviera centre in torquay, a major UK conference
centre, concert hall and leisure facility. concurrently he was also the General manager of the english riviera
conference bureau, responsible for generating both profile and business for not the only riviera centre but
for the region as a whole.
At the end of the 1980s tim held the post of head of commercial development at the dome in doncaster
and helped launch what was, at that time, the UK’s largest indoor leisure facility including leisure pools, two
level ice rink, health suites, and concert hall.
As ceO of tbL International, tim also acts as chief executive for the british music experience in Liverpool,
the national museum for popular music, which only recently last week opened its doors for the first time to
t he public. the bme is a highly interactive, audio visual journey through the social history of british music from
1945 to present day reflecting the important role that music has played in society over the last seven decades.

terence brannigan was appointed as tourism NI chairman in April 2015. he is also the current chairman
of the maze Long Kesh development corporation (mLKdc). mLKdc is responsible for the regeneration
and development of the site at maze Long Kesh which, at 347 acres, is twice the size of titanic Quarter
and four times the size of canary Wharf. he is a board member of co-operation Ireland, a Visiting Professor
attached to the business Institute, Ulster business School at the University of Ulster, a former chairman of
the cbI in Northern Ireland and was the founder and ceO of resource™, one of Northern Ireland’s largest
private sector employers.
