Capacity Building of Health Workers
Prevalence of anaemia in all the groups is higher in India as compared to other developing countries. In India, anaemia affects an estimated 50% of the population. The problem becomes more severe as more women are affected with it as compared to men. It is estimated that about 20%-40% of maternal deaths in India are due to anaemia and One in every two Indian women (56%) suffers from some form of anaemia. [National Family Health Survey (NFHS-III), 2005-2006]
Centre for Integrated development is working on anaemia and malnutrition with support of W.J. Clinton foundation. The goal of this project is to reduce the proportion of both anemic adolescent girls and pregnant women. The strategy opted is achieve this goal is consist Improving the IFA intake, Capacity building of FLW and Improve hygiene and sanitation conditions in areas with high burden of malnutrition.
Total 17129 Anganwadi workers and 12481 ASHAs has been trained
The project is covering 14 district across the Madhya Pradesh, in these fourteen districts, training of ASHAs and Anganwadi workers were organized throughout the year, In these trainings the participants were strengthen on various aspects of anaemia, malnutrition and hygiene.
