Honestly, for many years I
had a very negative attitude
towards anything related to
leadership and management.
I thought ‘I’ll shine as a
“Clinical Person”.’
I took over a Clinical Cardiology Lead role
that put me into a situation where I found myself
actually enjoying the interactions with my team
as their leader, but soon realised I lacked
many skills required to accomplish my work
at all levels.
I took two, two-day courses: The Foundation
and Advanced level and enjoyed every second.
The program was a perfect match and a real
inspiring eye opener!
I then decided to take the Postgraduate Certificate
in Medical Leadership and Management.
It gave me confidence and courage to apply for
Cardiology Service Director’s role. I got the job!
Without the training courses and the PC
Certificate program, I would have never taken
the responsibility to lead such a fantastic and
cohesive department of almost 200 people.
