How will climate change affect people?
Global warming isn’t directly affecting humans now, but eventually the temperatures will get so high humans are going to be affected and maybe even die out. The IPCC is very confident that global warming will still be going on for decades to come and they believe temperatures are going to get extremely high. One main way it is going to impact humans is food. The frost-free season is going to lengthen, meaning that crop growth is going to be disturbed and in the long term it will lead to lack of food and the destruction of crops. This will mostly affect people in the west of the United States, but later on, more farms will be affected by it. Also, the precipitation will increase in the North and decrease in the South of the US.
NASA is still expecting for there to be heavy rainfalls causing minor and sometimes major floods. Although, it will be somewhat similar to what it is now. In addition, the hurricanes in the Americas are going to be a lot more intense, stronger and frequent. The hurricanes will increase in rainfall and storm. They are caused by humans and natural causes. Sea levels are also going to be rising because of the warming of the sea which causes sheets of ice and glaciers to melt. Scientists are expecting the water to rise 1-4 feet in the next 80 years. Some countries that are at risk are, the Netherlands, Vietnam and Thailand. Also the Arctic is expected to be ice free by mid century.
