people, but profits are not more important than
humans, people are everything. So that is what
I focus on, I try to save lives.
What do you think people should do to get
involved more in climate justice and human
rights?
Voting is definitely important and aligning with
organizations where they are helping, doing
outreaches, or even just showing up to have a
discussion. Maybe it’s making a small donation
somewhere to help. There are so many ways
to be involved. There are a few of us that are
doing all of them. We’re going to the rallies,
we’re at the marches, we’re donating, we’re
voting. Obviously it’s up to you how deeply
you want to be involved, but there are so
many ways to help and further the message.
Sometimes it’s just telling somebody that may
not have known about these issues. Growing
the movement and spreading knowledge is
just as important as anything else. Go to the
websites of organizations that I’m affiliated
with, check them out, and see how you might
want to be involved. We need you!
What do you have coming up in the future
that people should look out for?
“Get hyped about Luke Cage, it’s going to be
so lit! That’s what I’m most excited about right
now and hopefully some new music. I can’t say
anything, but you’re going to want to watch!”

How do you juggle being a singer,
songwriter, and actress with such efficiency?
Honestly, I think it’s just my heart. Acting is
a lot about empathy and connection, which is
what I use when I sing. When I look out into
the audience, and into people’s eyes, a strong
connection is built. That’s the same heart that
I use to fight for human life. That’s what keeps
me going. I’ll get tired for sure, but I feel like
there is so much left to be done. That’s another
thing that keeps me motivated. There’s so
much work to be done as an activist and saving
human lives is a standout goal. I think there
is so much work to be done with my acting
and my music. There are more people to be
touched, more people to move, more people
to inspire. With all of that, I’ve got to keep
pushing. I’ve got to keep moving. I’ve got to
keep going.
