10 Luminary: Q&A with Pablo Sáinz Villegas
Fred Cummings sits down with acclaimed Spanish guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas, in Chicago
this winter for an intimate performance at Harris Theater, and back this spring in a debut
performance with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Heir apparent to famed legendary guitarist
Andrés Segovia, Villegas gladly bears the mantle of pre-eminent champion of Spanish guitar
repertoire for this generation.
14 Alternatives
We all know and love the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium and the Art Institute. Chicago’s
larger museums have a global following and offer a superlative learning experience. But just
off the beaten path in the Windy City are equally intriguing institutions whose subject matter,
though just left of center, offer a world of understanding most scarcely get to experience.
32 Month of Movement
April 2019 is Chicago Dance Month, and from free performances to mini-dance classes to fun
and frivolity with Chicago’s premier dance creators, audiences in the city will have to travel far
and wide to get a more satisfying dance experience this spring. We spotlight some of the best
ways to enjoy Chicago Dance Month.

62 Eye for Extremes
Extreme Ice, a temporary exhibition at the Museum of Science and Indusry, explores the work of
photographer James Balog and his survey team as they traveled to remote regions of the world
to record incredible images documenting the Earth’s shrinking glaciers. We share some of the
incredible findings of the team and ways the exhibition shows we can help counter the effects of
climate change.
