In the state of Texas, 1,250 children aged out of foster care in 2016 and are without a home.
Court Appointed Special Advocates Executive Director Kathy McClure shared the staggering statistic during Wednesday’ s Cleburne Lions Club luncheon.
“ Think about next week, as you’ re sitting down for Thanksgiving, that there’ s 1,250 children who aged out of foster care and are without a family and have nowhere to go,” McClure said.
McClure spoke about CASA volunteers and the state of foster care.
Johnson County has 245 children in foster care and 92 CASA volunteers, she said.
“ They’ re volunteers,” she said.“ They go through training and go before a judge and are sworn in as an advocate for children. When those children are taken into care, an advocate
