In the state of Texas , 1,250 children aged out of foster care in 2016 and are without a home .
Court Appointed Special Advocates Executive Director Kathy McClure shared the staggering statistic during Wednesday ’ s Cleburne Lions Club luncheon .
“ Think about next week , as you ’ re sitting down for Thanksgiving , that there ’ s 1,250 children who aged out of foster care and are without a family and have nowhere to go ,” McClure said .
McClure spoke about CASA volunteers and the state of foster care .
Johnson County has 245 children in foster care and 92 CASA volunteers , she said .
“ They ’ re volunteers ,” she said . “ They go through training and go before a judge and are sworn in as an advocate for children . When those children are taken into care , an advocate
