With a heritage that dates back to its first graduate in 1892 , Cleburne ISD remains committed to its mission to provide relevant and rigorous learning for students who will be the leaders of tomorrow .
The district will be observing a special milestone in 2020 , in celebrating the 100th anniversary of Cleburne ’ s appearance in the first Texas High School Football Championship Game , which took place in 1920 .
Enrollment in CISD is over 6,800 and growing . The district includes seven elementary schools serving prekindergarten through fifth grade , two middle schools serving sixth- through eighth-grade , one high school for ninth- through 12th grade and the TEAM School alternative high school .
Digital classrooms districtwide and mobile devices for use at school and home for students in sixth- through 12th-grade reflect the CISD vision in engaging 21st century learners . Innovative programs available to
students range from two-way dual language in English and Spanish beginning in kindergarten and a concerted focus on STEM starting in the fourth grade , on through to pre-Advanced Placement academics starting in middle school .
A wide range of courses , highlighted by the availability of internships and industry-recognized certifications through Career and Technical Education , equip students in ninth- through 12th -grade with the knowledge and skills for college and career readiness .
The final phase of construction at Cleburne High School is underway , following the opening of the new academic campus in January of 2019 .
The $ 122.2 million construction project approved by voters in 2016 , is now focused on the renovation of the former main building to provide for additional CTE labs and learning spaces .
Upgrades and expansions to the fine arts facilities serving students in the band , choir , theater arts and art programs are also a part of the renovation . This includes a new entry and lobby for the Don Smith Performing Arts Center .
Students served by the TEAM School will be housed on the second floor of the renovated building in 2020-21 to give them on-site access to the CTE program .
Towering over the campus is the Jeff D . Cody Arena , which
opened in August 2019 . The 38,000-square-foot event center seats 2,700 and has already served as the host of multiple volleyball playoff games for teams from throughout the state .
