TRADE COUNTER BEATS LONGSTANDING SALES RECORD
Truemans, the fast growing northern trade
counter chain, has reported its record sales
week, selling £120k across its three depots
during the last week of September.
Truemans has been gaining market share
for quite some time, steadily building up a
loyal following from installers who enjoy the
convenience of dealing with a local supplier, and
the company is now experiencing a sustained
period of significant growth.
Managing Director, Joe Trueman, comments
on the record sales week: “2013 has been a
particularly good year for Truemans. We opened
a new branch in Doncaster last month, which
has already gone down a storm with local
tradesman, and our long-standing Burnley and
Sheffield branches have both seen an increase
in volume. Volume is coming in from new
customers but also existing customers who are
ordering more. We offer free sales and marketing
support and this is helping our customers grow,
pulling more sales through our depots.”
Truemans doesn’t manufacture any of its
products; they buy-in very large quantities from
some of the country’s largest ‘super-fabricators’,
so they can afford to concentrate on offering
customers real added value service.

NEW BROCHURE FOR HOMEOWNERS
Halo has unveiled a stylish new brochure
promoting the innovative FlushSash window
system and explaining its benefits to the
homeowner.
The glossy new literature details the many
features of this PVC-U window system which
sits flush within its frame, mirroring elegant
window styles of the 19th Century.
Photography throughout the brochure
shows how the FlushSash is particularly suited
to heritage applications but would also suit
modern buildings which require an understated
level of style and sophistication.
Mark Barsby, The VEKA UK Group’s Head
of Technical explains: “The FlushSash has been
designed to offer an elegant, yet energy-efficient
window solution for heritage homes. With the
look of traditional stained or painted timber,
the FlushSash needs little or no maintenance
and will look virtually indistinguishable from
the property’s original windows.
“The FlushSash will provide a cost-effective
solution to a range of problems associated
with historic homes: energy-efficient, fivechamber PVC-U frames with double or triple
glazing will ensure period properties are more
weatherproof and draughtproof. Homes will
be warmer, with lower heating bills and the
FlushSash will also prevent condensation
forming while significantly reducing unwanted
outdoor noise.”

BBC’s DIY SOS calls for help!
Workington-based The Window Outlet was called in to help a local
Wigton family for the BBC One home improvement programme
DIY SOS, with Nick Knowles recently.
The old terraced property in Abbeytown was virtually uninhabitable,
having reached temperatures of -19C last year and in need of desperate
help.
After seeing an advertisement in their local Travis Perkins for local
businesses, The Window Outlet applied for the challenge to help give
the house a complete overhaul, as Director Graeme Pritt explains: “The
BBC contacted us following our application and took up our offer of
installing a brand new 3-pane New Wave Door.
“The installation was carried out by myself and two of The Window
Outlet’s fitters, and took half a day. We then stayed at the house for
the remainder of the day to help out the builders and other fitters in
whichever way we could.”
