MD issues rallying cry
following market report
Responding to the recent Palmer
Market Research (PMR) report,
which assesses the glass and
glazing industry, the Managing
Director of a leading fabricator
has issued a rallying cry to
installers.
Terry Richardson, who is MD
of TWR Trade Frames gave his
assessment of the industry and the
recent industry report by Palmer.
Saying: “Firstly, it is great news
that Britain’s domestic glazing
market appears to be returning to
growth for the first time since the
recession. This will provide a real
boost for installers up and down the
country.
“Growth across all product
areas has been predicted for five
consecutive years, which also fills
me with optimism. However
caution is required and I would say
growth markets such as bi-folding
doors and niche products remain
key for fabricators and installers.”
a huge growth area. We offer
installers a bi-fold survey, supply
and support service and one of
the industry’s leading bi-folding
doors.
“But still there is some caution

“Entrance doors are set to grow
and bi-folding doors still remain

BBA APPROVAL FOR PLASTIC
REINFORCEMENTS IN FOILS
Synseal has been awarded BBA
approval for the use Plastic
Thermal Reinforcements in
its foiled profile, enabling
fabricators to achieve even
higher U-Values. The move
follows extensive testing by
the manufacturer to prove the
integrity of its PTR/foil frames
without the need for steel
reinforcements, making 0.8 U
possible with triple glazing and
1.2 U with double.
Synseal Head of Marketing
Mark Schlotel said, “This is a great
step forward for our fabricators
and installers who can now offer
a foiled window that meets the
thermal requirements of Passivhaus
and Zero Carbon Housing
standards followed by arch itects
building eco-homes all around the
UK and Europe.”
Continuing, he adds, “The
demand for greater energy
efficiency is continuing to grow,
among householders, house
builders and local authorities alike,
and we are continuing to keep
our customers at the forefront of
meeting that demand.”
“As well as the obvious thermal
benefits, our PTRs are made of
100% recycled PVC-u and they
make the entire frame recyclable,
adding further to their green
credentials, and they are also
significantly lighter than steel, not
to mention cheaper.”
Show its security credentials
Direct Trade, the Doncaster based trade fabricator that’s twice been
included in the Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100, has proved its security
credentials after gaining several industry-recognised accreditations.
Direct Trade has achieved the BS7950 specification for enhanced
security performance for casement and tilt and turn windows and PAS
024 for residential and dual rebate composite doors. It has also achieved
a Secured by Design licence for these same products manufactured in
accordance with BS7950 and PAS 024; all of which are available in WHS
Halos’ System 10, Rustique and Esthetique systems.
Direct Trade’s managing director, Steve Green, commented: “We take
security very seriously here at Direct Trade, which is why we have worked
hard to gain these important accreditations. Secured by Design is a real
endorsement and will significantly benefit our trade customers, who can
now claim they are offering some of the most secure windows and doors
available on the market today.”
