The Window Outlet puts
Steve & Noah in the frame
Workington-based Network VEKA member
The Window Outlet has welcomed visitors
to an open day that featured Six-Times
World Snooker Champion Steve Davis,
who is Brand Ambassador for the Network
VEKA, of which The Window Outlet is a
member.
Noah Wall from Abbytown, in particular,
enjoyed the open day. At just two years old,
Noah has already defied doctors several
times and captured the hearts of the local
community. He was born with spina bifida and
hydrocephalus, and - last year - The Window
Graeme & Annmarie Pritt with Steve.
Outlet worked with the BBC’s DIY SOS to
develop a house to suit Noah and his family.
On the day, a delighted Noah was presented
with a 2ft cue, made especially for him by
Stamford Cuemakers and had his very first
snooker “lesson” from Steve.
Expressing thanks, Noah’s Mum Shelly Wall
said: “Steve is a real gent and we were very
honoured to be able to spend the afternoon
with them all.”
Steve also signed a snooker table which will
be auctioned to raise money for #hugsfornoah,
a charity set up by Shelly.
GGF DEFENDS DOUBLE
GLAZING COMPANIES
ON BBC RADIO
Nigel Rees, GGF Group Chief Executive
defended the double glazing industry live
on BBC Radio Leeds on 26th June.
The programme featured a case where the
homeowner was dissatisfied with the finish
around PVC-U doors recently installed.
Presenter Wes Butters expressed surprise
on the programme that in all the time he
has being doing his consumer complaint
shows, this was the first complaint on double
glazing.
The presenter contacted the GGF to pose
questions to Nigel Rees, who explained that
although the industry had a poor image many
years ago, a lot has been done to improve it
– but out of the millions of installations each
year, the good ones go unnoticed and the bad
ones tarnish the industry.
Nigel pointed out that there are companies
-not just in the window industry - ready to
take advantage but new consumer protection
legislation such as the Consumer Rights
Directive will make a difference. He said
it is important to get different quotes but
suggested consumers should look first to the
Federation which will ensure they get all the
necessary protection.
