HARNESSING THE POWER OF THE WEB
Hailsham-based Halo fabricator Tradesmith
has launched a new and improved 55page website, which has been designed for
easier navigation and a more user-friendly
experience.
Mark Hutchinson, Tradesmith MD, explains:
“Tradesmith is a modern and efficient company
providing a huge number of products and
services, and we didn’t feel that the previous
website reflected what we had to offer.
“We’ve taken the opportunity not only to
improve the look of the website, but also the
functionality so it works on phones and tablets
as well as conventional computers. “Since the
company was established in 1992, Tradesmith
has gone from strength to strength, becoming
the South East’s premier trade fabricator. We
have increased production by expanding our
premises and investing in the latest machinery
and vehicles as well as employing the best,
most experienced staff. It was time that
www.tradesmith.co.uk also received some
attention.
“The updated website features the new
showroom, tells customers a little about us, and
also has a wealth of easy-to-find information
about all our produ cts and services. It includes
comments from staff and customers, so that
new visitors can learn about our ethos and
reputation.

TRANSPARENT FUEL COSTS
The striking County Glass livery is a
familiar sight in southern England, as the
company fleet covers the area within 120
miles of its Winchester home. More than a
dozen 7.5 tonne and 3.5 tonne vehicles are
constantly on the road, carrying everything
from standard double glazed units to oneoff custom glazing.
County Glass’ vehicles all use Shell. “We
know that sticking to Shell FuelSave means
that we are running on the best possible
fuel,” says Sales director Andy Hamilton,
“with the added bonus of convenience, as the
nearest filling station to our headquarters sells
Shell.”
Card Services, part of The Fuel Card Group.
This means that the company’s refuelling
costs are not just completely transparent, but
also significantly lower than previously.
Now, County Glass is advised each Friday
of a fixed diesel price for the coming week.
The price applies nationwide, across the
whole network of more than 1,100 Shell
filling stations. County Glass pays, typically,
up to 4p per litre less than national average
prices.
The major reason for County Glass preferring
to refuel with Shell is that each of its drivers
carries a Shell fuel card, provided by Fuel

SCIENCE FICTION? MORE LIKE SCIENCE FACT
Planitherm Competition winner John
Drury, wife Eleanor, and son Tom, receive
a cashback cheque from Cambridge
Windows boss Carl Bloor and Chris
Heaton (far right) of Saint-Gobain Glass.
10
DEC 2013
“We honestly thought there was no chance
that we were ever going to win it,” says John
Drury when asked about his recent win of
£6,787 through the Planitherm quarterly
cashback competition.
Entered by Carl Bloor of Cambridge
Windows, who himself only registered with
Saint-Gobain Glass as a Planitherm installer in
June, Drury, a Service Engineer for scientific
instruments, chose to replace his Isleham
home’s entire set of older wooden windows
and French doors.
While the word scientific might be included
in Drury’s job title, according to wife Eleanor
he’s no scientist. “He’s just an engineer. I’m
the scientist,” she jokingly says. “I was actually
recommended Cambridge Windows at my job
as a scientist at the Welcome Trust.” She was
delighted to hear of their win and they have
already planned to use some of their winnings
on a holiday next year. “It’s also good with
Christmas coming up,” adds Drury.
Personally fitted by Bloor, this was the
first in a long line of jobs on the Cambridge
Windows books. Enjoying the benefits of
being a part of the Planitherm Network, the
Cambridge-based installer is now booked up
until the end of January.
