GGF ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT RESTRUCTURE
Statement by John Agnew, GGF President.
» » THE GLASS AND GLAZING
Federation (GGF) is pleased to announce a
management restructure that will ensure the
Federation maintains and builds on its position
as the leading trade body in the industry.
The strategic decision to restructure was
unanimously agreed by the GGF Board
and is designed to bring the internal GGF
departments closer together with a greater
focus on the technical side of the Federation.
Steve Rice, GGF Director of Technical
Affairs, who has been with the Federation for
over 30 years, will be GGF Managing Director
with immediate effect and will be responsible
for the full running of the Federation’s
operations. The GGF is also currently
recruiting for new technical positions to
increase this valuable resource for Members.
As part of the restructure, the Group Chief
Executive and Head of Membership are no
longer employed by the Federation. On behalf
of the Board, I would like to thank both for
their work at the GGF and I wish them every
success in the future.

Online System Makes Aluminium Really Easy
» » REAL ALUMINIUM IS
helping more and more installers
to maximise the potential of
aluminium and benefit from the
higher profit opportunites it brings
by giving them all the tools they
need to grow with aluminium;
developing a free comprehensive
training programme for its new
quoting and ordering system.
REAL has already hosted a
successful day-long seminar where
15 installers were shown how
to use REAL Aluminium’s new
online software. The intuitive
software was developed to make
the process of quoting and
ordering aluminium windows and
doors quicker and easier than ever
before.
Formal feedback on the training
day revealed that every delegate felt
the level of technical content of the
day was perfect and rated system
developer and presenter John
Harvey as excellent.
With such positive feedback from
the customers who attended, REAL
is now rolling the programme out
as a flexible 90-minute remote
training course for novices and a
45-minute lite session for those
familiar with Window Designer
software. The training sessions are
free of charge and are designed to
help them get the most of out of
the cloud-based system.

CREATIVE UPCYCLING STEMS FROM
STRONG COMMUNITY ROOTS
» » MARK JONES AND BEN KENNY
from VEKA UK Group’s maintenance
department have been assisting with the
Thomas Whitham Sixth Form STEM project
which saw students recycle bicycles into a
range of creative new items.
‘Renovate-Innovate-Create’ were the aims
of the four-day programme where students
were tasked with dismantling a bicycle and
documenting the process before re-building
it back to working order. They were then
able to dismantle it once again and work
with the VEKA UK Group team for a day

The PVCu giant is very proud of its
Lancashire roots – with the majority of its
380-strong staff living within the local BB
postcode – and VEKA UK Group (with MD
Dave Jones as representative) recently became
an official Lancashire Ambassador alongside
the likes of Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff. The
company has been based in Burnley since
1986 and is proud to partner with schools
and colleges across the region. Mark Jones and
the team have already been involved with the
Primary Engineer Project to support teachers
in introducing the children to simple design
and engineering techniques.
