StormMeister moves ahead in flood protection with Extrudaseal

SPECIALIST FLOOD DOOR manufacturer, StormMeister, has developed a ground-breaking flood door system, which uses the pressure of the flood water itself on gaskets to create a water-tight seal.
An evolution of StormMeister’ s patented Active Flood Sealing system, its new solution extruded by Extrudaseal, can be applied during manufacture, eliminating any requirement for any specialist onsite installation.

Malcolm Snape, Managing Director, StormMeister explained:“ Flood door designs traditionally rely on the compression of the door gasket to form a seal against water. This is achieved through the addition of extra locking points.
“ This can make operation difficult, requiring some force to compress the gasket using the handle, making everyday operation problematic.

“ Our patented Active Flood Sealing System exploits the pressure created by the flood water to form a seal, with just two extra locking points and without compromising operation and dayto-day use.”
Developed in partnership with Lancaster University, the StormMeister system for inward opening doors employs complex single multi-chamber gasket to create a watertight seal.

Fully compliant with PAS1188, it’ s been fully tested to withstand water up to a depth of 600mm for 48 hours.

IMPROVED SEALING OF windows is provided by ISO- BLOCO ONE foam tape available from leading supplier ISO-CHEMIE.
The multi-purpose foam tape enables installers to quickly and easily seal windows from inside the building during construction, avoiding the need to use time consuming and costly external access systems like scaffolding and ladders.
This can provide cost savings of up to 70 % when compared to traditional three component systems- hiring access systems, with the associated health and safety issues, can add significantly to the overall cost of a new build or renovation project.
Moreover, because the foam sealant can be used in the wet and rain the installation of windows can be undertaken regardless of external weather conditions, avoiding time consuming and costly delays.
This can add-up to potential savings of hundreds of pounds per day, ISO CHEMIE estimates.
Once installed, the tape ensures structures are better protected from elemental factors like wind, dust and moisture ingress by accommodating the changes in structural movement caused by environmental, cyclical and settlement factors.

AWARD-WINNING PANEL AND composite door supplier Vista has seen incredible growth thanks to increasing demand for XtremeDoor, its best-in-class composite door. Sales are up a full 15 % compared to last year.
Recent legislation also meant the XtremeDoor had to toughen up even more, Document Q testing lead Vista to double the thickness of the highly-durable GRP skin to 4mm to conform with the cut-through test. This gives composite doors three minutes to survive an attack using a Stanley Knife and two chisels( a 6mm and a 25mm). If in three minutes or less, the tester can cut a 50mm hole which is large enough to get an arm in and open it, the door fails.
