HARDWARE PIONEER INVESTS TO BE BEST-IN-CLASS
A UK hardware pioneer has made significant investments in the business to achieve
its 2020 vision to become the world’s leading total hardware solution provider.

business for 42 years and in this time has
launched thousands of new products and
exports these to over 60 countries.
In 2015, Caldwell’s turnover was £19.1m
and this year the company is on track to
increase turnover again.
Growth is attributed to a £170k investment
in production, the launch of new products,
partnerships with some of the UK’s biggest
fabricators and the specification of its products
in high-profile projects.
This year, Caldwell launched a record seven
new products to the market including the Ultra
Stay, Bifold hinges, Ultra-lift and Torso II next
generation spring balances and the FoldUp
window.
The company is also leading the UK market
when it comes to automated products and
has launched two new automated products –
OmniDrive and Ingenuity.
Tim Ferkin, Sales and Marketing Director,
comments: “Our automated products have
been well-received in the US market, where
their popularity is rapidly growing. We spotted
an opportunity in the UK for automation and
took our products and scaled these down to
make them more accessible.
“We displayed these automated solutions
at the FIT Show earlier this year, where they
received positive feedback from customers and
visiting fabricators.”
Part of the global Caldwell Group, Caldwell
UK is not a mass component supplier but a
specialist manufacturer. Caldwell works with
some of the UK’s largest fabricators to deliver
tailor-made product solutions.
One example is Masterframe. The fabricator
sources all of its sash window hardware from
Caldwell, who design and produce bespoke
furniture and balances for the company. As
a key partner since 1991; Masterframe has
relied upon Caldwell’s experience for the last
25 years.
Alan Burgess, Managing Director of
Masterframe, said: “Product quality and
meaningful guarantees are what clients appreciate
and what differentiates Caldwell from the low
cost, inferior quality components, offered by the
volume producers.
“The products Caldwell supply us have had a
hugely positive impact on what we do, helping
to speed up production and add value to our sash
windows. Our customers know they are getting
pretty, well built, top of the range from us, and
despite being slightly dearer, actually helps them
to sell more; and at a higher margin too.”
