PROUD SPONSOR OF DOORS & WINDOWS
DOORS&WINDOWS
Titan by name
Nestled behind a local high
street in Somercotes, Derbyshire,
when you first visit Titan Trade
Windows, you may be forgiven
for thinking the door and
window fabricator is somewhat
of a modest manufacturer.
» » A WARM WELCOME IN A ‘BIJOUS’
reception followed by a friendly handshake
from company founder and MD Leigh
Titchener, and it’s through to the shared office
for a cup of tea and a chat, followed by a tour
of the factory, a brief history of the business,
and some insight into the present and the
future forecast of the fabricator. It’s here that
two Clearview colleagues soon realise that
‘Titan’ is the perfect name for the team with
great expectations, a bright future; and a grand
brand with very big ideas, that are already
being delivered on…
“When we first started the business, we
would go through the phone directories
looking for installers to phone,” begins Leigh,
“and now we’re just about ready to launch a
new look, state-of-the-art website.”
Of course, it’s no surprise that a modern
manufacturer would have a website, but the
design and development of a new one at the
time of Clearview’s visit gave a little glimpse
into the goings-on at the Alfreton site. It’s
an exciting time for Titan Trade Windows,
for many different reasons. A new flush sash
window using Spectus profile, a potential
expansion – if increasing demand warrants it –
and of course the refreshed online presence, to
name juts three reasons we came over to Titan
HQ. There’s no website without any product
however, so what else will we see on its pages,
once it gets a refresh?

“We use Spectus profile, first and foremost,”
Leigh continues, “so the catalogue would be
just as you’d expect from that type of material,
but we also supply aluminium. When we
started out, we had a clear vision of what we
wanted to provide to both the trade and the
DIY sector, and that’s exactly what we’ve been
doing for over 15 years.
“We manufacture casement, tilt and turn,
mock sash and vertical slider windows, and,
we took the decision to fabricate the Optima
flush sash system at the back end of last year;
based on the stunning aesthetic look of the
window with options for mechanical joints
to give a traditional timber joint, beautiful
hardware choices and Yale locking; we knew
this would be a hit with our customers, and
we are already we are seeing excellent growth.
“In terms of doors, we have a portfolio of
residential, French, in-line patio, tilt and slide,
and bi-folding doors; added to that a catalogue
of conservatories; we’ve built a name for
ourselves, from the ground up, on choice of
product and quality units.
“Fab&Fix hardware offers the finishing
touch for door and window furniture, as we
believe in attention to detail right down the
line, and cheap fixtures and fittings would ruin
the overall effect and life span of a product, if
used.”
Over the last few years the Directors have
been constantly investing in machinery, the
first big investment made was to install a
Stuga fully automated saw and machining
centre, this was followed up recently with
the purchase of two Haffner Murat four-
head welders and also a Haffner Murat CNC
machine.
To think that Titan’s reputation has been
built on product and production alone is
humble on Leigh’s part. A quick look at the
company’s online reviews and testimonials
shows that customer service is just as
important to the Titan team. Customers seem
more than happy to leave glowing reports of
the experience they’ve had with a body of staff
that are ‘fantastic’, ‘great’, ‘helpful’, in fact
there’s a compliment for almost every letter of
the alphabet assigned to everyone in the team
from the front office to the shop floor.
Thinking back to one of Leigh’s first
comments of calling installers in the phone
book when Titan first set out, it’s nice to see
this personal touch hasn’t faded with time,
even as the company has grown, and continues
to evolve.
Looking to the future the Titan directors are
in the process of looking for a new facility in
the region of 20,000 sq ft; this will allow both
the customer base and the product range to
grow further, and place the company and its
team on the continued path of success it has
enjoyed in its first 15 years.
