Chris Beedel, Director of Membership
with FENSA Ltd is Clearview’s Director
of the Month for October. From a
clear-desk policy, to taking to the open
waves for sea fishing to clear his mind,
Chris talks us through a typical day at
FENSA after an “amazing” two and a
half years with the organisation…
When did you join (or
start) the company?
I started with FENSA In
February 2017. It’s been an
amazing two and a half years and
I’ve learned a huge amount about
the industry.
Describe your working day...
I leave home at 7am to catch
a train to London. After the tube
it’s a short walk to the office in
Southwark. I arrive around 8.30
depending on whether I have
a breakfast stop, make tea for
the team and catch up on any
activities. Then it’s emails and
when I am in the office there are
usually several meetings to attend.
I leave the office around 5.30 and
I’m home usually before 7pm.
What is your
workspace like?
I’m a tidy person so it’s
generally well organised and we
have a clear desk policy to ensure
that all files are where they should
be to maintain confidentiality.
First thing you do when
you get to your desk?
I check my diary for meetings
and to make sure I have time to
prepare for them.
What websites help you?
Obviously the FENSA website
but I also have our travel agent,
some trade press and news
channels as favourites.
How do you unwind?
Most useful business tool?
It has to be my phone as I can
access all of the information and
data I need whether I am office or
if I am travelling. I can also access
my Kindle library to read on the
train.
Best business decision
in your current role?
Probably the appointment of
Rachel Culpan as our Customer
Services Manager. Rachel brought a
number of managerial skills to the
business and she manages the day
to day activities of the customer
services teams to keeps everything
on track. She also manages our IT
development activities through our
sister company Borough IT.
Favourite role
models and why?
No one famous but there are
plenty of people I’ve worked with
over the years who have inspired
me. They would be embarrassed if
I named them but they know who
they are.

I play tennis at least twice
a week to unwind and also to
improve my technique. Although, I
live in the middle of the country I
try to get to the coast as often as
possible for some sea fishing with
friends.
About FENSA
FENSA is a government-
authorised competent person
scheme monitoring building
regulation compliance for the
installation of replacement
windows and doors. When
homeowners choose a FENSA
Approved Installer, they receive
a FENSA certificate when the
work is complete: all the proof
they need of a job done right.
Every FENSA Approved Installer
is assessed regularly to ensure
their standards are continually
maintained.
FENSA’s mission is to improve
window and door replacements
across the UK, by professionalising
installers and protecting
homeowners.
FENSA ensures the work
complies with building regulations,
is energy efficient, registered with
the local council and verify that
every FENSA Approved Installer’s
guarantee is insured.
FENSA recently reported
that the first six months of
its prolonged TV ad campaign
(launched in March) is “far
exceeding expectations” and
that FENSA Approved Installers
are reaping the benefits. The TV
campaign is the first of its kind in
the industry and the impressive
statistics confirm why homeowner
awareness of FENSA has never
been higher. The recent FENSA
sponsorship on TV channel Dave,
and their ‘Weekends on Dave’
comedy programming, provided
six separate ad ‘idents’ shown
over the course of 11 weekends
and were seen over 170 million
times. Backed up by the main
TV ad and a series of online
marketing campaigns, the FENSA
brand has been seen over 225
million times over the past six
months.
