SAFETY CONSULTATIONS
A solid idea
» » ICOTHERM ROOF
Systems designs and manufactures
a range of timber framed warm
roof solutions for the trade. Icoroof
– a pitched roof, has sold in the
thousands since its inception in
2014. Here Icotherm’s Anne Marie
explains why a roof, is no longer
‘just a roof’…
There are many terms bandied
around to describe the latest roof
solution offered to the home
improvement market: solid roof,
warm roof, tiled roof, lightweight
roof...or some combination. All
of which aim to instil a sense of
comfort and reassurance to the
homeowners and installers of this
product.
The ‘solid roof ’ offering seems
to be an unusual medley, with
some systems using aluminium
frames, sometimes mixing it with
timber to ensure it performs,
traditional timber only systems,
and all using a variety of
insulation methods to achieve
required U-Values.
The end proposition is simple
though: the homeowner trusts
us to do our jobs right, by
manufacturing and installing a
fit-for purpose end-product And
that is what Icotherm focuses on,
designing the best possible roof for
the homeowner and the installer.

» » THE GLASS AND
Glazing Federation (GGF) has
comprehensively responded to
three Government consultations
related to fire safety:
• A technical review of
building bulletin 100:
Design for fire safety in
schools (submitted to the
Department of Education)
• A call for evidence related
to the Regulatory Reform
(Fire Safety) Order 2005
(submitted to the Home
Office)
• Building a safer future:
proposals for the reform
of the building safety
regulatory system (submitted
to Department of Business
Energy Industrial Strategy)
These consultations will shape
the future of the construction
industry and building regulatory
system in the decades to come,
and the GGF and Members
who have contributed their
expertise and knowledge to the
consultations, have ensured a
collective industry voice has been
heard.
In July, the GGF presented
the importance of fire safety
in the House of Commons at
the meeting of the All Party
Parliamentary Group for Fire
Safety. The GGF will continue
to lobby local and national
Government to gather greater
momentum on educating all
those responsible for fire safety
in buildings.
