A TUFFX CUSTOMER HAS taken the advantage recently when it supplied over forty square metres of Ambi-Blue oversized four millimetres toughened conservatory roof glass, 3.8 metres in length, for the second conservatory installation at Akebar Leisure Park restaurant in Leyburn. The first installation was supplied with standard glass and muntin bars.
Installation company, Seaham Windows Ltd, commented that it was delighted to offer oversized glass product without the need for muntin bars. This meant quicker installation, no call backs for leaks and a better visual looking internal for diners.
The Ambience oversized, solar control, self-cleaning glass range is available in a number of options.

FLOOD PROPOSALS – GOOD START, MORE TO DO

FEDERATION OF SMALL Businesses( FSB) welcomes the progress on flood plans set out in last month’ s National Flood Resilience Review, but says there is still more to do to help small businesses at risk of flooding.
Mike Cherry, Federation of Small Businesses National Chairman, said:“ Small businesses will be encouraged that the Government has committed to critical investment in infrastructure to tackle the risks posed by flooding to the UK economy.
“ Nearly a fifth of businesses directly affected by devastating floods last Christmas are still not fully operational. That’ s a troubling

indication of what could lie ahead as we again approach the winter months. As well as direct flood damage, we know disruption to staff and customers, supply chains, utilities and transport are the most frequently occurring problems for small businesses during severe weather events. So it’ s vitally important infrastructure is built to withstand the pressures a flooding event can create.
“ But the risk will never be zero. Small businesses also need to be empowered to improve their own resilience through a combination of trusted property-level protection and adequate insurance. Our research suggests up to 75,000 smaller businesses at risk of flooding could currently struggle to find affordable flood insurance. Small businesses are not covered by the new Flood Re agreement and so FSB is working closely with the Government and insurance industry to explore how high-risk businesses can increase their resilience, reduce their flood risk and, consequentially, reduce their insurance costs.”
GROWTH PLANS CEMENTED WITH NEW HQ ACQUISITION

PURPLEX, THE FULL-SERVICE marketing agency for the building products industry, has secured an additional 5,000 ft2 office space after parent company, the Ascot Group, confirmed a £ 1million investment programme.
The new 3-storey HQ will add to the firms existing offices near Bristol and central London, giving the group almost 10,000 ft2 of office space.
Managing Director, Andrew Scott, commented:“ Purplex has always invested heavily in recruiting and developing talented people, but we needed more space and resources. The new offices will enable us to scale from 50 to 100 + people while adding fantastic new facilities.”
The new HQ is located close to a motorway exit and adjacent to a mainline train station, with Bristol airport just 20 minutes away. It will be equipped with a film making and photography studio, training and conference facilities, and a new technology hub.
“ The location means easier and faster commuting for our team while providing great transport links for our clients. We prefer faceto-face rather than business by email,” added Andrew.
Purplex was formed in 2004 by Andrew Scott, who was previously marketing and sales director for a number of companies in the building products and home improvement industries.
