Making sure your
company gets found
30 minutes to get
on Google maps
The chances are that if you’re in
business you want customers and
prospects to find you. Google+ is
the best way to get on the map on
the first page of Google.
When you set up a company
page on Google+, also known as
Google My Business, set it up
right and it will maximise the
chances to be seen on Google in
your area.
‘it will maximise
the chances to be
seen on Google
in your area’
Here’s how it works
Google+ is a fully integrated
Google advert for your business.
It also gives you control over how
your business is listed on Google
and Google Maps.
It is fantastic for local search
results as you can be listed with
other businesses on the map for
relevant search results in your
area. But the best thing is that,
apart from time, it doesn’t cost
you anything to set up.
Here’s how to
set it up:
»»Step 1
Go to https://plus.google.
com/pages/create
You have to choose your
business type from Storefront,
Service Area, or Brand.

customers could visit you – so great
for showrooms or trade counters
A service area – this is
somewhere you work from but
customers are less likely to visit –
distribution warehouse or factory
A brand – great for product
brands that are recognised
separately from the company
name
For a store front or service area
Google will ask you to type your
business name into a search bar on
a map. Find the correct business
and address and click on that. It is
important to set up your page as
a store front if you have a physical
place for customers to visit like a
showroom or café because anyone
searching will be able to find you.
Then go to step 2.
If your business doesn’t
appear, you can create it as a
new business here. Just
