Coming out in Support
»»Avocet Hardware
has welcomed the imminent
adoption of Approved
Document Q1 of the
Building Regulations 2010
– saying its introduction
will redress a significant
security specification
issue.
“Approved Document
Q1 is a real game changer,”
said Avocet’s marketing
manager, Derrick Purvis. “At
present, product hardware
specification and options for
selection in relation to security
vary significantly.”
“Q1 completely redresses the
balance by permanently removing
such cheap products from the
specification equation, while also
placing security firmly to the
fore. The industry really should
be shouting about it from the
rooftops.”
Approved Document Q1 of
the Building Regulations 2010
came in to force on October
1st, 2015. All doors and windows
now, at the minimum, have to
be either PAS24:2012 rated or
Secured By Design (SBD) – a
move that finally regulates against
the products that make them less
secure.
“Security is a principle factor
for end users when it comes to
doors and windows and, as we all
know the higher the specification
of the product used, the greater
the level of security delivered.”
added Derrick.
