A solid idea
» » ICOTHERM ROOF
Systems designs and
manufactures a range of timber
framed warm roof solutions for
the trade. Icoroof – a pitched
roof, has sold in the thousands
since its inception in 2014.
Here Icotherm’s Anne Marie
explains why a roof, is no longer
‘just a roof ’…
There are many terms
bandied around to describe the
latest roof solution offered to
the home improvement market:
solid roof, warm roof, tiled
roof, lightweight roof...or some
combination. All of which aim
to instil a sense of comfort and
reassurance to the homeowners
and installers of this product.
The ‘solid roof ’ offering
seems to be an unusual medley,
with some systems using
aluminium frames, sometimes
mixing it with timber to ensure
it performs, traditional timber
only systems, and all using a
variety of insulation methods to
achieve required U-Values.
The end proposition is simple
though: the homeowner trusts
us to do our jobs right, by
manufacturing and installing a
fit-for purpose end-product And
that is what Icotherm focuses
on, designing the best possible
roof for the homeowner and the
installer.

“Tireless commitment
to providing the best
support and service
that he possibly could”
» » REHAU IS DEEPLY
saddened to announce the death
of one of its longest serving
employees, Mark Collins, who
passed away in hospital of
complications following surgery
on Wednesday 25th September.
Mark joined the company in
February 1990 and spent most
of his career in the Window
Solutions division as Area Sales
Manager for Southern and
Western England. His infectious
good humour made him a
popular figure with his customers
who appreciated his tireless
commitment to providing the
best support and service that he
possibly could. Outside of work
Mark was a keen theatre and
concert goer, and his passion for
aviation was well known to all.
Mark will be sorely missed by
everyone at REHAU and our
thoughts go out to his wife Nadia
and his four stepchildren.
NEW RECYCLING HQ GETS
POLITICIANS’ THUMBS UP
» » DRAWN BY THE PROSPECT OF THE
jobs and sustainable production VEKA
Recycling Ltd is bringing to Wellingborough,
Northamptonshire, local politicians made
a visit to the company’s new headquarters
to learn more about one of the area’s newest
employers.
The town’s Member of Parliament Peter
Bone, accompanied by Northamptonshire
County Councillor Gill Mercer, visited VEKA
Recycling’s new site, which was established
on the town’s Finedon Road Industrial Estate
early in 2019. By the end of the year the plant

will significantly add to the processing capacity
of VEKA Recycling Group, Europe’s largest
PVC window recycler, which is already in
excess of 60,000 tonnes annually, representing
more than 3.5 million windows.
Simon Scholes, VEKA Recycling’s
Managing Director showed how old PVC-U
window and doorframes together with virgin
offcuts, are re-processed at the plant and
recycled into new products, including new
window frames. Whilst currently operational
with a process that reduces frames and other
component materials into reusable polymer
for a wide range of uses, some refinement of
materials continues to be dealt with by VEKA
Recycling’s other plants in Germany and
France.
