Double the
Chance
»»Fabricator Whiteline unveils
another first, with the launch of its A++
rated windows, as certificated by the new
BFRC labelling scheme. The A++ rating has
been introduced to encourage greater energy
efficiency in the UK built environment,
making real improvements versus previously
available products. Products with an energy
rating of A+20 and above qualify for the
A++ label and offer a great opportunity
for installers to upsell based on enhanced
performance.
Whiteline now offer accredited windows
rated from A+21 to A+33, using its unique
combination of SlimSASH, with six chamber,
70mm deep standard frame and a new seven
chamber, 85mm deep Revival frame option.
All require triple glazed 36mm units and gas
fill options to complete the ensemble which is
exclusively available to Whiteline customers.
“BFRC is delighted at the take up for
the new A++ rating for windows,” BFRC
managing director Chris Mayne commented,
“since the announcement that BFRC was
accepting applications for the new A++ band
we received simulation reports from far more
companies than we expected. This has resulted
in the launch of the first batch of A++ window
products and we look forward to seeing how
they perform in the market.”

A Trufit Future
»»Weruwise has ditched
silicone for the fast fitting, clean and energy
efficient TruFit®, the new expanding foam edge
tape from Edgetech UK, a Quanex company.
The East Sussex installation company is now
using TruFit in all whole house installations.
“Customers like the neat finish they get
with TruFit. There are no trims, bobbly
silicone or paint lines and that’s got u s a few
word of mouth recommendations already,”
says Steve Hugill, Partner at Weruwise.
“Our installation teams are impressed too.
Because there’s no need for them to add a
trim it saves them time as well as looking
neater. They don’t have to use messy silicone
or PU foam either.
“It’s easy to fit around the window and
then it expands to fill any gaps between the
frame and the surround. The fitters also
like Edgetech’s specially designed belt to go
round the roll of TruFit to keep it secure.”
Weruwise has used Super Spacer for nine
years, so when Edgetech brought out TruFit
they were keen to try it.
Steve adds: “We’re always on the lookout
for ways to make us more professional.
TruFit definitely fits the bill. It’s the
future.”

TruFrame
ready
TruFrame has become
one of the first window
manufacturers in the
UK to achieve the new
‘A++’ Window Energy
Rating standard.
»»This new rating requires
a minimum of an ‘A+20’ standard as a
means of compliance and TruFrame has
been able to simulate and satisfy this
requirement with a commercially realistic
‘A+25’ standard using triple glazing,
achieved through the use of a low iron
external pane and two panes of softcoat
low-e glass, in conjunction with argon
gas and either Edgetech Superspacer or
Swisspacer Ultimate (‘A+24’)
Triple glazing is becoming ever more
important for TruFrame, with its ability
to incorporate a 40mm sealed unit using
a neat glazing bead, as well as the use of
heavy duty friction hinges, to make it a far
more commercially viable option.
Patrick Firmager, marketing director of
TruFrame commented: “It’s important that
we’re first to market to comply with new
standards, as it helps to give our customers
an advantage over their competitors. We’re
also actively developing a number of new
products for launch early next year, ready
for the FIT Show.”
