However, the rapid pace of growth means this sector is experiencing material shortages, presenting new opportunities for suppliers in the glazing industry. Jade Greenhow, Insight Data’s Operations Manager, said: “The industry was hit hard during the financial crisis. Now, as the industry picks up, businesses are struggling to ramp up manufacturing to pre-crisis levels to meet rocketing demand, putting projects on hold or behind schedule.” Hundreds of residential housing, commercial new-build, and refurbishment developments need building products. If suppliers want to get involved in this growing market they need to get in touch with house builders and main contractors. C O M smashed all past records in the 2014 NetworkVEKA awards, walking away with more than half the entire trophy table, including UK overall champion. Glazerite customers took six of the organisation’s ten regional awards, including Best Newcomer and Jason Thompson, Glazerite Director, said: “We never thought they could beat last year’s grand slam, every one of them has done superbly.” Thistle Windows marked its first full year of partnering with Glazerite, taking both the National top spot and the all-Scotland regional trophy. Three other members retained the regional trophies: Goliath Homeworld, Shane Howells and KJM Group.
