Delivery Plan
Endorsed
by GGF
»»Nigel Rees, GGF Group Chief
Executive, last week attended the launch
of the Get Britain Building 2020 Delivery
Plan, which makes the case for using
construction as a driver of jobs and growth
and includes a range of recommendations
for the next Government, covering the
period 2015 to 2020.
At the launch, it was mentioned that the
Construction Industry is bigger in revenue
than the aerospace and car industries added
together. The 2020 Delivery Plan outlines
how best to deliver new housing and
infrastructure projects that would result
in 200,000 new jobs in the construction
sector - according to the industry’s leading
organisations, including the Glass and
Glazing Federation.
Nigel Rees said, “It is important to get
fully behind an industry wide campaign
such as ‘Get Britain Building’. We
completely endorse this recent report
which proposes a comprehensive range of
solid recommendations to help growth and
jobs.”
The report’s core purpose is to help
the Government meet its objectives on;
reducing unemployment, growing local
and national economies and decreasing
carbon emissions over the next five years.

the change to VEKA system frames, Glazerite
customer, Frames Conservatories Direct and
its trade wing Plastic Trade Frames suggest
things have never looked better for them.
With retail and trade sales still growing
month on month, the Bury St Edmonds group
is focusing on a number of initiatives to raise
the local profile of both divisions. The company
is now spreading its retail message wider, in
every sense by taking to the road with the
launch of its Home Security and Energy Advice
Mobile Unit.
Adrian Lewis, Managing Director, said: “This
unit enables us to reach out to a much wider
geographical area and also respond to local
fears after a spate of burglaries in the area.”
Just a year ago, the group changed over
to VEKA frames fr om trade-only fabricator,
Glazerite Windows and soon after was
accepted as a member of Network VEKA
and celebrated opening its bigger, refitted
showroom.
“We have seen steady year on year growth
since the very beginning,” Adrian concluded,
“But the last year has been exceptional and we
are very grateful for the quality of the VEKA
system the untiring support of Glazerite as
major factors in that growth.”

Sealants prove fitting
for low carbon home
»»A private residential
development near Chelmsford, Essex has
achieved air leakage rates within the limits
required for the PassivHaus standard,
thanks, in part to the specification of
illbruck’s i3 sealant system.
The near-to-zero carbon property has
been constructed for a private client
by Abacus Build, while Kent-based
Ecomerchant was responsible for supplying
and installing the triple glazed door and
window systems. This was done using a
combination of three illbruck products
– plus an adhesive – that together make
up the manufacturer’s BBA accredited i3
system.
When the first pressure test was carried
out the consultants registered an air leakage
rate of 0.66 cubic metres per hour, per
square metre of wall area. It is anticipated
that when all of the plastering work is
completed, the final air test will show a
further improvement of 0.1 m3/m2/hr.

A spokesman for Ecomerchant said: “This
was the first time as an installer that we had
employed illbruck sealants and we found it
to be a very good system. The Compriband
TP600, in particular, is a nice product to use.”
