INDUSTRYNEWS VEKA UK Temporarily Close Operations due to COVID-19 » VEKA UK HAS TAKEN THE decision to temporarily close operations at their Burnley site from Sunday 29th March due to the COVID-19 pandemic and following Government guidance. Dave Jones, Managing Director of VEKA UK explains: “For over 30 years, VEKA UK, our customers and our people have faced a fair few challenges. And we’ve come through them, by acting quickly, supporting each other and working together. “We are taking our responsibility very seriously and as the situation continues to change rapidly so must we. The wellbeing of our employees, customers, suppliers and community is our highest priority, which is why we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our operations in the UK. “Due to the dynamic nature of the Pandemic, we do not know when we will be able to re-open, but we will review this in-line with Government advice. Our team are committed to supporting our customers especially those serving the NHS, medical and food markets. Today, we are still accepting orders from all our customers alongside these key market customers in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Indeed, we are actively looking to support medical device customers and their injection moulding supply chain. If we can assist as a full-service moulding company in any way from contract moulding, complete tool room services, machining or assembly contact us. This is despite introducing recommended measures: • Additional cleaning and PPE control measures. • Some of our team are working remotely where possible. • We are working closely with our delivery contractors ensure we can continue to deliver; although signed PODs currently may not be available. • We are working closely with our supply chain and we are ensuring we have the right stock. • We have postponed any non-essential meetings on or off-site, your account managers are available as usual. • Full product support by email and phone: [email protected] / 01295 222400 GGF MEMBERS AIR VIEWS AT CHAIRPERSONS’ FORUM » THE INAUGURAL ANNUAL GGF Chairpersons’ Forum took place at AluK Design Studio in London, on 4th February, with 31 Members attending to represent the GGF Technical Groups, Committees and Board as well the GGF Regions/Countries. Chaired by Greg O’Donoghue, former GGF President and Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee, the meeting heard reports from; 13 Technical Groups; three Committees, nine GGF regions and three countries. Chairman, Greg O’Donoghue added, “It was a very successful day and the commitment and passion from GGF Members was clearly 18 » M AY 2020 » CL EARVI E W- UK . C O M in evidence with more than 90% of the GGF’s Chairs in attendance. This event can only make the GGF more unified and transparent for Members, regardless of their size, status or location.” At the Forum, 30 reports were heard, from all different parts of the Federation with the main topics of discussion being; training for the industry, compliance with industry standards, GGF governance and structure as well the Federation’s internal function and how they can work more effectively for the Membership. www.ggf.org.uk
