Guernsey window installer hits
‘Top Gear’ with car showroom
Trade and commercial fabricator CDW Systems has
helped one of its customers complete a successful
installation at a car dealership in Guernsey.
» » THE WINDOW SERVICE CENTRE,
which has been operating throughout
Guernsey for 25 years, was tasked with
upgrading the main showroom entrance at
their local Hyundai dealership. The team
called on the expertise of CDW Systems, who
supplied both Hawk commercial sliding doors
and Sapa’s 202 Ground Floor Treatments.
Designed for commercial projects just like
this, the Hawk sliding door from Sapa is a
heavy-duty solution which is suitable for high-
traffic areas. Its aluminium construction, along
with its stainless-steel rollers and individual
aluminium tracks means the Hawk system will
deliver a consistent performance every time a
car needs to enter or leave the showroom.
It’s the perfect pairing for Sapa’s 202
aluminium framing system, which offers
both a robust and secure solution with a very
low threshold – which was necessary for this
showroom installation.
Speaking on the project, Mark De La Rue,
the owner of Window Service Centre explains:
“The team at the Hyundai dealership came
to us looking to upgrade their showroom
entrance. We consulted with our supply
partners CDW Systems to find the best
solution and came to the conclusion that
the Hawk commercial doors with the Sapa
framing ticked all the boxes.
“Not only is the Hawk system great
for large openings, it’s incredibly robust -
which are both valuable attributes for this
application. We are absolutely delighted with
the finished product but most importantly, so
is the customer. We are only able to uphold
our reputation as the island’s glazing specialists
through the support of our supply partners,
and the quality and the service we received
from CDW Systems was once again first-
class.”
Richard Smith, Technical Director at CDW
Systems adds: “We take great pride in the fact
that we can offer customers the right solution
for any project, using our extensive aluminium
range. Whether it’s shop-front systems,
curtain walling or windows, doors and sliding
doors, our range covers all the major systems
houses and just like in this case, is available
with pre-sales support and a full technical
back-up including CAD drawings, structural
calculations and U-value reports.”

Flush is available with distinctive dual-colour
options. A full range of window furniture is
also available, with locking chrome handles
as standard and even traditional monkey tail
ironmongery and matching dummy casement
stays to support more traditional applications.
High-performance friction stays remove the
need for hinges and deliver the popular clean
lines associated with flush windows.
The new flush casement is one of many new
additions made to the CDW line-up over the
past 12 months. The Gloucester-based firm
also introduced the new VS 600 from Smart
Systems, a popular vertical sliding window
which combines the aesthetics and operation
of a traditional sash window with the thermal
performance and durability of cutting-edge
aluminium.
